The Adventures of a Solitary Soul - H. J. Sharp |
Dream 10 - The house within a house, the first recurring dream
In March 1961, I realised that I had been having a recurring dream. In the dream I was living in a house within a house. The lower part of the building appeared to be a conventional house with several rooms on the ground floor, upper floor and with attics. So there were three stories. Ordinary stairs went from one floor to another. But within all this, in particular within the first floor and the attics, there was another house. This second house was very dusty and apparently rarely lived in. It also had three floors but the way from one floor to another was not by stairs but rather by sloping ramps. I was not able to understand how one went from the outer to the inner house, but in the dream I was able to do so, being shown by the guiding Angel. I realised it was a recurring dream because part way through it I would remember it, This went on until one night I remembered it from beginning to end. The dream never recurred again after that. I had got the message and so it had served its purpose.
And what was the message? Simply that my mind consisted of an outer three aspect part which I was reasonably familiar with and so normally lived in, hence the absence of dust and the use of stairs, and an inner or deeper part which I did not normally occupy and was conscious in. I could only reach this deeper level of my mind with the help of the Angel, a higher power. In addition in this deeper level, one progressed continuously and not in discrete steps as exemplified by the stairs being replaced by sloping ramps. The principal message was the existence of an outer and an inner, the inner not being accessible by ordinary means.
